Zahoor A. Makhdoom, MD, MRCP, AGAF, FASGE, obtained his medical degree in 1982 from Liaquat Medical College, followed by an internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, New York.  For the past 29 years, Dr. Makhdoom has established himself as an expert in his field; becoming a fellow of the  American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterology Association.  Being one of the only gastroenterologists specialists in Southern Illinois has led Makhdoom and his team over the past decade to develop a cutting edge, successful private practice.  In 2007 Southern Illinois GI Specialists LLC began using a non-surgical and highly effective hemorrhoid treatment that eliminates the use of anesthesia.  Also, in 2009, Dr. Makhdoom introduced the non-invasive virtual colonoscopy to the practice, a method that decreases pain and the possibility of complications.  Makhdoom's career is highly established and very successful because of his dedication to patients, hard work, and his belief in the All Mighty.
