Joan L. Thomas, MD, FACC, is the Chief of Cardiology for Unity Health System, and a practitioner at University Cardiovascular Associates in Rochester, NY.  Specializing in non-invasive cardiology, she was instrumental in bringing the Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Service to Unity.  This device saves lives faster by jolting the heart with normal rhythms when a patient may begin to experience arrhythmia or other dangerous symptoms.  In addition to her medical duties, Dr. Thomas is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine for the American College of Cardiology. An author in 10 publications for her cardiovascular research, she also lectures for academic purposes.
