For many years, Dr. Volker has balanced a career of practicing medicine, running numerous businesses and teaching surgery.
Dr. Volker is recognized as an international authority in MIS (Minimally Invasive Surgery) in women’s health and pelvic reconstruction. Dr. Volker has committed his surgical career and daily practice of medicine to offering his patients minimally invasive surgical procedures. He has advanced his surgical program to the point that approximately 90% of his major surgical procedures are performed minimally invasive through laparoscopy and robotic approaches. This is far greater than the norm where approximately only 18% of major gynecological surgery is performed as minimally invasive. In addition, Dr. Volker is an accomplished pelvic reconstruction surgeon. He is one of a select number of gyn surgeons that performs robotic surgery.
Aside from his MD degree, Dr. Volker has a PhD and Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He is only one of a hand-fold of OB/GYN-biochemists/Molecular Biologists in the US. Dr. Volker also went to business school and has a BBA in finance management.
Dr. Volker is clinical faculty at UCLA in the department of OB/GYN, Advanced Gynecology Minimally Invasive Surgery Division, Harbor-UCLA campus. He is also the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery for UCLA, Las Vegas campus.
Dr. Volker is known for his research efforts in women’s health. He has been the principle investigator of many studies. While earning his PhD, Dr. Volker, in collaboration with the NIH, conducted research looking at metabolic mechanisms and genetics in the development of breast cancer. He serves as a research advisor at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine, in the Department of OB/GYN.
He is the Chairman and CEO of the American Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery, an international organization that is recognized as the leader in advanced surgery for women’s health.
Dr. Volker is the managing partner of Women’s Specialty Care, LLLP, the largest OB/GYN private practice in Las Vegas. He is the Medical Director of LV-MIS (Las Vegas – Minimally Invasive Surgery), a division of his private practice. He is the president of Volker Healthcare, Inc. and is founder and Chairman of Premier Physician’s Insurance Company.
Dr. Volker is the chief of staff at Centennial Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has held local, state and national positions in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
He consults with local and national media providing recommendations in the latest treatments in women’s health. He has given grand rounds and presented research seminars at numerous prestigious universities and health centers such as University of California (UC-Davis), UC-Irvine, Arnold Palmer Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Orlando, Fl, and Brown University in Providence, RI just to name a few.
He has been interviewed by ABC News, CBS News, and CNN providing advisement on the treatment of menopause and related health problems. Dr. Volker has been featured on numerous episodes of The Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel.
He has numerous peer-reviewed publications, is a preceptor for Olympus Instruments®, Gynecare® (a Johnson & Johnson® company), Karl Storz Enoscopy and gives lectures nationally on women’s health and advanced surgical techniques.
Dr. Volker, over the years, has precepted and given lectures to thousands of surgeons on the methods of minimally invasive surgery. He has been working with nationally recognized surgeons in the U.S. including Dr. Steve McCarus to bring a minimally invasive gynecologic surgery program to Southern Nevada.

Through his relationship with numerous industry leaders and companies, Ethicon Endo-Surgery has recognized Dr. Volker to develop a minimally invasive surgery program that will be conducted at Centennial Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.
Dr. Volker currently has a surgical research protocol evaluating and comparing minimally invasive surgery to traditional open surgery. He has been involved in many studies in the past and is the Clinical Director for the ongoing NIH funded multi-center trial; STOP-DUB (Surgical Treatment Outcomes Project for Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding). Numerous articles have been published.
Awards: 1st recipient of the Outstanding National Physician in Humanism Award from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, Distinguished Man in Southern Nevada in 2001, Alpha Omega Alpha, Sigma Xi, Outstanding Teaching Resident Physician in 1999 and 2000.
