Get to know Oncologist Dr. Alice Reier, who serves patients in Oakland, California.

Recognized as a top professional in the field of oncology, Dr. Reier treats patients suffering from cancer out of her private practice in Oakland, California. She has a special expertise in the treatment of patients with multiple blood diseases and disorders.

Locally, she is affiliated with Alta Bates Summit Medical Center – Alta Bates Campus, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center – Summit Campus, and Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center.

At the start of her academic career, Dr. Reier graduated with her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1992. She then went on to perform her internship at Oregon Health & Science University, her residency in internal medicine at USC/LAC-Keck School of Medicine, and her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles.

With years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Honored with the Best Doctor Award for three consecutive years from 2010 to 2012, Dr. Reier remains involved in the field of oncology by being a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Alameda-Contra Costa County Medical Association.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A medical oncologist treats cancer using chemotherapy or other medications, such as targeted therapy or immunotherapy.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Reier enjoys traveling. Her favorite professional publication is the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
