  • What is the popping sound during chiropractic adjustments?

The sound you are hearing is the release of tiny pockets of air that have built up in the joint when adjusted. The adjustment helps to release the pressure in the joint and subsequently help to relax tendons, ligaments and musculature around the area being adjusted. READ MORE

  • Can getting your neck adjusted help with headaches?

Yes, in my opinion having a neck and upper back adjustment can help reduce tension headaches. Make sure to have the doctor show you how to stretch your neck and upper back following the adjustment as it can help hold your adjustment. READ MORE

  • Should you let a chiropractor crack your neck?

If your neck is a problem area and you are considering having it adjusted, a Chiropractor is the best doctor to do the treatment. The Chiropractor should assess you before hand to make sure there are no risk factors for you having the procedure done. The Chiropractor is specifically trained to manipulate/adjust the joints of the spine and extremities. READ MORE

  • Does frozen shoulder cause pain down the arm?

It is possible to have pain in the Biceps with a Frozen shoulder. Best to have the shoulder assessed to rule out anything neurological like a pinched nerve. The cause of the injury and a description of the pain pattern down the arm would be helpful to better answer your question, READ MORE

  • What is the fastest way to heal a calf muscle?

Healing a calf muscle depends on the mechanism of injury. If it is strained, then moist heat for 5-8 minutes followed by static stretching 10-20 seconds followed by ice for 5-8 minutes can help. If there is discoloration or swelling that differs from the other calf you should get examined. READ MORE

  • How do you feel after chiropractic adjustment?

In my experience most patient feel more mobile and flexible. Some patients may feel some soreness for approximately 24 hours and then feel much better. You experience will be yours. Speak with your Chiropractor if you are not feeling better after 24 hours. READ MORE

  • Is heat or cold better for frozen shoulder?

If the frozen shoulder is acute ice will help reduce inflammation. If it has been over a week and you were diagnosed correctly try moist heat. A damp towel over a heating pad or a corn sock for 10-15 minutes. You can also alternate between the moist heat and ice 15 and 15, rest 60 minutes and repeat 2-3 times daily. READ MORE

  • What is the gun that chiropractors use?

What you are referring to is an Activator. It can either be a manual tool or electric?. It is a non-evasive adjusting technique to treat subluxations of the spine and joints. READ MORE

  • Neck and shoulder pain?

Good to hear that you and your husband are feeling better. One side effect of the virus can be unexplainable muscle aches. Even though he is better, he still may have some symptoms that are lingering. My advice is to gently stretch his neck and upper back and even incorporate some dynamic stretches. Stay hydrated and keep moving. Try to get the appointment with your doctor and be evaluated especially if pain and stiffness does not lessen. Try to stretch 3-4 times/day. READ MORE

  • Can't turn head right after alignment

Go back to the doctor that did your alignment and have them assess you. It is possible it can be a muscle spasm pinching the nerve. Also, it is important to know how far down your arm the pain is shooting and if you have lost any strength in the arm and in your hand. READ MORE

  • Shoulder pain?

First off, congratulations on your scholarship offers! My take on your history is that you may be over training, aside from your workouts, you also have no choice to use your shoulders, chest, biceps and triceps to keep you mobile. Pain that is constant and locks up and starts to cause weakness needs to be evaluated immediately. A Chiropractor experienced in sports injuries can evaluate you, but in this case I would recommend that you see a sports orthopedic specialist and you may need an x-ray and possibly an MRI to evaluate the shoulder joint. Make that appointment now, because the sooner you know what the cause is the sooner you can start your recovery and be ready to play in college. There are a few differential diagnosis's from the history you have given. I can not tell you specifically what's wrong without evaluating it. That being said, make your appointment with the Orthopedist! READ MORE

  • Intermittent pain between neck and shoulder?

Following imaging studies, 10 weeks of PT and discovering massage therapy seems to help the most. You may want to try trigger point therapy using an ultrasound or acupuncture in the area between your neck and shoulder. The initial accident may have accentuated the bulging discs in your neck to become more symptomatic, and from what you told me, the small tendon tear may be new. Both complaints can lead to muscular spasms and trigger points to form as your body does not want to repeat the same actions that led to your complaints. Try finding a chiropractor certified in acupuncture and sports injuries who understands how to use an ultrasound for trigger point therapy. READ MORE

  • My 5 year old did a walkover and heard a crack?

Never discount Dr. Mom! There is a difference between a "crack" and a "crunch". The fact she is still wanting to play and that she is showing no signs compensating movements (ie limping, trouble taking a deep breath) is a good sign. To put your mind at ease, take her to your pediatrician for an evaluation. Sounds like she is very flexible and in good health. After release from the pediatrician you may consider taking her to a Chiropractor to be adjusted. READ MORE

  • Dislocated finger?

An x-ray of your finger will show if the finger is well aligned. Unless there was or is significant damage to the joints it would be difficult to determine a prior dislocation. READ MORE

  • I have had back spinal pain for a couple of days?

Any time you have back pain lasting longer than 48 hours you should get examined by a physician. You can begin by seeing a Chiropractor to assess if your pain is more musculoskeletal in nature. If you can recall any mechanism of injury, that can also help the doctor determine if it is skeletal/muscle/joint related or something deeper. Given the brief history you have given, it would be helpful to know if you have been sick, have trouble breathing, and if your blood pressure is in the normal range. Bottom line--go see your doctor! • What does a chiropractor do during an adjustment?

To use the term "adjustment" to be synonymous with "treatment": First, the chiropractor would understand your history and what led you to their office (i.e., accident, strain certain signs and symptoms). Second, do a physical assessment of the condition with range of motion testing, strength testing, orthopedic testing and, if diagnostically warranted, do an X-ray. If examination leads to the treatment with adjustments, the Chiropractor will traditionally use their hands to target the problem area and surrounding areas to take the pressure off the joint and improve the function of the joint's mobility and make sure surrounding musculature is relaxed and not compressing any nerves, arteries, or veins. READ MORE

  • Is it bad to go to the chiropractor too often?

The word "often" can only be defined by you. I believe you can be over adjusted, leading to hypermobility in your joints. That being said, your chiropractor should explain to you why you are being adjusted and the need for the frequency of your visits. You lifestyle plays a role in your treatment, how often you exercise and stretch, and the nature of your employment, whether it is sedentary or labor intensive. I would also substitute the word "bad" for "necessary"! READ MORE

  • Uneven waistline?

From your picture, there is a slight difference in the gap between your arm and torso. It is quite possible you may have a minor scoliotic curve. There are two main types of scoliosis a functional curve that can be the result of strained muscles or developing you musculature more on one side than the other. The other type of curve is structural which means that your vertebra bodies developed in such a way that one side of the body of the vertebra has a greater height than the other side causing the spine to curve away. First things first, get examined by a chiropractor and see if an adjustment gets the gap between arm and torso equal and then do stretches to maintain your alignment. If you are an athlete train with good technique both sides of your body to reduce compensations that can cause a functional curve. It is true that if your lower back is more tense on one side, that can lift the pelvis on that side causing a functional curve. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractic adjustment help me sleep better?

The Chiropractic adjustment can help to relax your joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles which in turn, in my opinion can help in better sleep. Your part following the adjustment is to be shown how to stretch to keep your muscles and tendons relaxed since it is unreasonable to be adjusted every day. A regiment of stretching and breathing techniques can help you to have better sleep. Use the adjustment every so often as I assume you are generally healthy being 16 years of age. READ MORE

  • How do you know if your wrist is out of place?

If your wrist is out of place, painful and swollen you should be evaluated by an Orthopedic specialist. A Chiropractor can also evaluate the injury and an x-ray may be needed. Sometimes a stiff and subluxated wrist is referred to as being out of place. Subluxated means the tendons of the wrist may be strained and stiffness and discomfort may result. A Chiropractor can adjust the wrist and corresponding compensating joints such as the elbow and fingers which may offer you some relief. If the injury is not complicated you should be shown some stretching exercises to help of the forearm, wrist and fingers. READ MORE
