Get to know Family Physician Dr. Vincent Sciortino, who serves patients in Melbourne, Florida.

In practice since 1995, Dr. Sciortino is an experienced family physician with V S Primo Health Care in Melbourne, Florida. He provides preventative and general primary care for patients of all ages. 

In his professional experience, he has served as Chairman of Family Practice at Wuesthoff Hospital for three years and as Chairman of Emergency Services. He has also spent time as a military physician.

As a child growing up in Bagheria, Sicily, Dr. Sciortino first caught a glimpse of anatomical drawings by Leonardo DaVinci and it prompted his interest in medicine and surgery. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to the United States but returned to Sicily for his medical education. He graduated with his medical degree from the University of Palermo – School of Medicine and Surgery in 1995 before relocating to the United States to complete his residency at Nassau University Medical Center in New York.

Among the doctor’s most notable achievements, he is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. 

Furthermore, he is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011) and the Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2018).

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

A part of Dr. Sciortino’s success is his ability to communicate effectively. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian.
