Her specialities include facial and body aesthetics, breast and oncologic reconstruction, general reconstructive surgery of the face and body, and facial trauma.

A part of UNC Medical Center, UNC Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery provides comprehensive outpatient care to burn and plastic surgery patients. It provides outpatient clinical services and has a procedural area and post anesthesia care unit. The providers perform outpatient procedures such as lasers, breast procedures, facial procedures, abdominal/trunk procedures. The procedures they perform are therapeutic, reconstructive, and cosmetic in nature.

A woman of many titles, Dr. Damitz is also Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a Professor at UNC School of Medicine. 

Her acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her Medical Degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 1993. She then went on to perform her residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997 and 1999, respectively.

Furthering her training, Dr. Damitz completed fellowships in breast and aesthetics at Charlotte Plastic Surgery and Nashville Plastic Surgery in 1999 and 2000, respectively. 

With a commitment to surgical excellence, she attained board certification through the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

As a holder of fellowship status, Dr. Damitz has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

 In addition, she is active in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
