About

Sonya S. Noor, MD, serves as the Medical Director and Co-Founder of Buffalo Endovascular & Vascular Surgical Associates in Buffalo, New York. She also serves the Gates Vascular Institute as Medical Director (Access Care) of their Outpatient Vascular Lab. She has served the Buffalo community for over 13 years, and specializes in treatment of the vascular system, which is comprised of arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation. Dr. Noor is renowned across the country for her work treating abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid surgeries, and bypass procedures involving this delicate system. According to a 2021 interview with Endovascular Today magazine, Dr. Noor’s favorite surgery involves a trans-carotid artery revascularization. This procedure involves opening up the carotid with a stent to help treat carotid artery disease and prevent stroke. Dr. Noor’s practice provides the most procedures of this kind in its area, and she is thrilled with the way this subset of medicine continues grow and improve. Dr. Noor is also passionate about women’s vascular care and is currently expanding her abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) care and prevention methods through education of others. In addition to her work at BEVSA, Dr. Noor helped launch the Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) program at Kaleida Health Hospitals, a hospital chain serving all of Buffalo. Her goal is to improve early detection and treatment of DVT, which can be deadly even in a patient that is otherwise healthy. Rather than receive an anticoagulant, Dr. Noor wants these patients and their doctors to have an informed, improved approach to the care and treatment of DVT. Dr. Noor’s work at the Gates Vascular Institute also includes a role as Medical Director of the Amputation Prevention Program. She found that in many patients, amputations could have been prevented if more thorough arterial evaluation was taken prior to amputation. Her current goal is to combine specialties (along with vascular care) to make sure that patients receive all ends of the spectrum of treatment.
