Get to know Urologist Dr. Peter T. Vaselopulos, who serves patients throughout the State of Illinois.

Dr. Vaselopulos is a board-certified urologist who has an impressive professional journey that spans over three decades and has expanse knowledge and unrivaled expertise in robotic surgery, renal cell cancer or laparoscopic nephrectomy, kidney stones, impotence, incontinence, and prostate problems. He remains dedicated to serving patients at Metro Chicago Surgical Oncology with offices in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois.

Named “Top Urologist” by the Consumer Research Council of America, Dr. Vaselopulos is currently the Chief of Urology at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He holds hospital privileges at Thorek Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and Evanston Hospital Highland Park Hospital. He also has privileges at Glenbrook Hospital and Skokie Hospital, both of which are part of the NorthShore University HealthSystem. 

As for his academic career, he graduated from The Chicago Medical School and completed his internship and residency at the University of Cincinnati. Before long, he became board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology, whose mission is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as to work with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care. 

Throughout his many years of experience, the doctor attributes his success to working hard, always making himself available to patients and to other physicians, as well as having successful outcomes. He remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Urological Association, the Chicago Urological Society, the American Medical Association, and the Illinois State Medical Society.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
