Rubina A. Heptula, MD, is the Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at The Children's Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. An internationally renowned scholar in pediatric diabetes, Dr. Heptula was awarded as a McNair Scholar for Juvenile Diabetes by the Janice and Robert McNair Foundation. With the National Institutes of Health and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Dr. Heptula's research focuses on therapies and causes of Type 1 Diabetes. Author of over 45 publications, she is also in charge of an artificial pancreas project, spearheading a possible cure for Type 1 and 2 diabetes.
