Dr. Helena Jasna Kukla gained her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1958 from the Charles University Faculty of Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic. After an internship at the Czech Children’s Hospital, Dr. Kukla moved to the United States and completed a residency at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Dr. Kukla is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association, and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a noted expert in the treatment of long term depression, and says that her success is thanks to her use of both psychotherapy and psychopharamacology. When not working, Dr. Kukla enjoys reading, walking and running, and skiing. Psychology is the science of behavior and mind, including conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. It is an academic discipline of immense scope and diverse interests that, when taken together, seek an understanding of the emergent properties of brains, and all the variety of epiphenomena they manifest.
