How often should I rinse my mouth with salt water after tooth extraction?
After immediate extraction and for about a couple of days, I would suggest no rinsing and spitting, especially if there was bone grafting involved for ridge augmentation. Also because you want the blood clot to form. After that, rinsing a couple of times a day is sufficient. You could also use prefabricated sachets that are made for sinus rinse as they have both salt and bicarbonate in the pre-mixed form. Hope this helps. Dr. Orr READ MORE
What color should a tooth extraction site be?
Within two weeks - darker pink somewhat red and inflamed after it has healed up, lighter pink, or should match the rest of the tissue color in the mouth. READ MORE

A firm believer that dental health is related to the overall health of the patient, Dr. Orr is an outstanding board-certified dentist who takes great pride in providing excellent dental care to her patients. She is the Owner of Advanced Valley Dental in Simsbury, Connecticut and Smile Center in Terryville, Connecticut.
At both dental practices, she offers various services, including general, cosmetic, laser, family, and implant dentistry. She also has special training to treat and care for pediatric, highly anxious, and special needs patients. Her routine smile makeovers with porcelain veneers not only look natural but also improve a patient’s health and well-being combining cosmetics with function.
Told by her patients that she has an extraordinary gift to be able to communicate effectively, Dr. Orr has a unique way of making them feel comfortable by treating them with empathy and compassion. Her philosophy is to take care of her patients as she would her family.
She holds a Master’s degree in Aesthetics from New York University and works closely with the world-renowned Dr. Larry Rosenthal in Manhattan who is known as the “Dentist To The Stars”. She is also affiliated with Cosmetic Dentists of Springfield, Massachusetts.
Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Orr earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2012. A year later, in 2013, she completed her residency in general dentistry at Saint Mary’s Hospital, a Yale-affiliated urban hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Due to her surgical background during residency and continuing education in implantology, she thoroughly enjoys placing implants using 3D technology for accurate and precise implant placement. She is CEREC-certified, offering crowns in a day using CAD/CAM technology, as well as laser-certified for laser periodontal treatment for deep and shallow pockets.
Among this dentist’s professional affiliations, she is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Advanced Implant Educators, and others. She is also board-certified by the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners, which is now The Commission on Dental Competency Assessments.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
Committed to excellence in dentistry, Dr. Orr actively participates in continuing education courses. She enjoys giving back to the community and routinely volunteers for community service events.
Besides her love for dentistry, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, doing yoga, and swimming.
