A 1989 graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Alvi relocated to the United States to complete his internship in internal medicine at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Rossville, Maryland in 2000. Wanting to further his training, he completed his residency in neurology at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. in 2008, followed by his fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut in 2009.
With an impressive professional journey that spans over three decades, Dr. Alvi is affiliated with several medical centers in the area, including the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and McLeod Regional Medical Center. Attributing his success to his perseverance and his love of the field, he is the recipient of the On-Time Doctor Award in 2018, Patients’ Choice Award from 2016 to 2018, Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2017 and 2018, National Resident Scholars Program in 2007, and American Academy of Neurology Award in 2008.
