Licensed to practice medicine in Kentucky, Dr. Mechas is affiliated with several other medical venues, including Saint Joseph London, Lexington VA Medical Center, and University of Louisville Health – Louisville Hospital.
Regarding his educational background, he earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal in 1986. He then went on to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the same educational venue in 1991.
Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Achieving professional competence, Dr. Mechas is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOS). He is also a member of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the American Urogynecologic Society, and the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine.
