Is CT contrast dye radioactive?
CT contrast materials are not radioactive. However, the contrast material can cause allergy reaction to some sensitive people and to some people it can damage the kidneys. This why pre CT screening is perform. The radiation during the CT exam is coming from the X ray tube inside the CT scanner. Can contrast dye make you itchy?
Yes, contrast can cause allergy reaction and one of the symptom is itching. Itching is mild reaction, but sometimes in severe reactions, it can cause death. Please notify your doctor or any medial staff if you are going to get contrast dye again. There are medications that can prevent the allergy reaction from contrast materials. READ MORE
