Dr. Davila-Santini is board-certified in Surgery and Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in the field of surgery. Surgeons certified by the ABS, known as diplomates, have completed at least 5 years of residency training following medical school, met all ABS training requirements, and successfully completed the ABS examination process. Furthermore, Dr. Davila-Santini maintains professional memberships with the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Vascular Surgery, and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Davila-Santini has a solid academic foundation that he drew upon in order to grow professionally and become one of the most appreciated surgeons in his field. He received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico (Universidad de Puerto Rico) School of Medicine, where he also conducted his internship. He then went on to complete an internship in General Surgery at New York–Presbyterian Hospital Queens, followed by his fellowship training at NorthShore University Hospital, where he became specialized in vascular surgery.
Vascular surgery involves the management of diseases of the vascular system (arteries and veins) by medical therapy, minimally invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Davila-Santini diagnoses and treats vascular diseases and performs vascular surgeries. Deeply passionate about the practical side of his work, he always prefers the operating room where he can actually treat patients and restore their quality of life.
