Founded in 1977, Holston Medical Group has grown from a handful of family practitioners to a comprehensive, diversified group of nearly 150 primary care physicians, specialists, and mid-level providers. For more than 20 years now, the caring pediatrics doctors at HMG Pediatrics have been providing comprehensive pediatric care to the children of Kingsport and the Tri-Cities area. They specialize in well-child checks, chronic medical care and acute care in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. The goal of HMG Pediatrics is to provide quality medical care that exceeds patients’ expectations and builds a lasting relationship.
Dr. Ley is board-certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Founded in 1933, the ABP is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). It is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. Dr. Ley also maintains his professional society memberships with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Tennessee Medical Association.
Dr. Ley received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dallas. Thereafter, he went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School. His postgraduate training consisted of his internship and residency with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences / Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dr. Ley is Adjunct Faculty on the family residency program at James H. Quillen College of Medicine East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, and also at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. Furthermore, he maintains hospital privileges at Holston Valley Medical Center and Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Dr. Ley specializes in all aspects of general pediatrics and behavioral pediatrics. His special interest is in asthma, which is a common long-term inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs.
As part of his philanthropic initiatives, Dr. Ley participates in international medical missions in Belize, Central America. He attributes his success to communicating with families, assisting them with what is going on with their child, as well as helping them to understand and feel good about the care given.
