Dr. Riedel obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He received his medical degree from the University of California Medical Center, San Francisco (UCSF). UCSF School of Medicine is continually ranked among the nation’s top medical schools. It earns its distinction from its outstanding faculty – among them are four Nobel laureates, 84 National Academy of Medicine members, 64 American Academy of Arts and Sciences members, 42 National Academy of Sciences members, and 18 Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigators.
Dr. Riedel completed his internship at the Oregon Health & Science University. Oregon Health & Science University is a public university in Oregon with a main campus, including two hospitals, in Portland, Oregon. The institution was founded in 1887 as the University of Oregon Medical Department and later became the University of Oregon Medical School.
He went on to spend three years in the United States Air Force. He then completed three years of eye surgery training including corneal and cosmetic facial aesthetic surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Riedel is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He served as president of the East Bay Ophthalmic Society, past chief of staff at John Muir Medical Center and president of the California Association of Ophthalmology.
He is a member of numerous ophthalmic societies, including The Pan American Association of Ophthalmology. He is actively involved with the Department of Ophthalmology at University of California at San Francisco as a board member of Beckman Vision Center.
He currently practices at the Diablo Valley Eye Medical Center & the
Refractive and Cosmetic Laser Center. The Diablo Valley Eye Medical Center mission is to enhance, preserve and restore vision. They specialize in early diagnosis and treatment of all vision disorders and eye diseases.
