How can plastic surgery remove my birthmark?
Birthmarks can be very different. Depending what it’s cellular origin, pigment type and size your physician can decide what the appropriate treatment would be. Can be lasers or surgical excision. Make sure to see well trained plastic surgeons or dermatologists READ MORE
How long will I be under during my nose job?
Hi, After a nose job (rhinoplasty), it is the usual to apply a splint on the nose for one week give or take a day. At the end of that week, most facial and perioccular swelling resolves. The final outcome of the rhinoplasty results can take up to 12-18 months. Good luck to you! READ MORE
Are tummy tucks painful to get?
Thank you for your question. Just 4-5 years ago I would have agreed with you about tummy tuck surgery. Yes, it was very painful, controlled with lots of strong pain meds that had other undesired side effects. Today, a long-lasting local anesthetic (up to 4-5 days) can be used and most patients can get by on Tylenol after surgery. Discomfort can last up to 3 months, most are back doing regular activities by the second or third week. It also depends what and how much was done during surgery. You should contact a plastic surgeon, and once it's determined what you need done surgically, pain and post-op care should be thoroughly discussed. Good luck to you. READ MORE
Are there any risks with lip injections?
With any procedure there can be risks. If you consider the number of lip injections the ratio of complications is extremely low. Such problems can be bruising, swelling, uneven results, too much or too little, unwanted shape. Rarely, puckering of injected material and, extremely rarely, intravascular injection of materials with severe problems. You should seek an experienced and well-trained injector. READ MORE
How long is a recovery from a breast augmentation?
I would say that one week after surgery you may resume daily activities, but not strenuous physical activity. It would be prudent to wait about three weeks for full physical activity. Good luck to you READ MORE
Does a fall mark heal on its own, or do I need plastic surgery?
Falls can create deep lacerations with crushed skin and soft tissue. It can also be severely contaminated facilitating infection. Best you seek medical attention immediately so you may avoid more serious problems later. Also Plastic Surgery consultation would minimize scar formation. READ MORE
Even after a lip surgery, my lips are not in perfect shape. What should I do?
After lip surgery, in general, it takes 3 to 6 months for most swelling to resolve and over one year for final healing. Also would recommend that you go back to your surgeon for regular follow-up visits. READ MORE
Are breast augmentations safe?
Thank you for this question. Breast augmentation procedure is relatively a safe surgical procedure in the hands of a board certified certified plastic surgeon. However, your blood sugar level must be optimized and your diabetes under control and hopefully you're not a smoker. With that said, you are at a slightly higher risk for general post-op complications. READ MORE
Is plastic surgery done with anesthesia?
Yes, all surgical procedures are done with anesthesia. You may need to know if the procedure your thinking about is generally done under local anesthesia, sedation with local anesthetic infiltration, or general anesthesia. Consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon should clarify to you what type of anesthesia would be suitable for your particular procedure. Good luck. READ MORE

What is a tummy tuck?
After two pregnancies your abdominal wall (stomach) may stretch along with the skin covering it. At this point even by loosing weight and exercising the condition may only be corrected by surgery. This involves tightening the abdominal wall, removing redundant skin and possibly liposuction Other procedures may be done at same time . It can be painfull, however this is less and less of a problem with use of newer long lasting anesthetics injected during surgery that may last more than 4 days. I recommend you see a competent Plastic Surgeon who would carefully examine you take your medical/surgical history and give you an honest assessment. Good luck to you. READ MORE
Whats the earliest age you can get a cosmetic nose job?
Good question that comes up in my practice from time to time. In the face there are growth point areas that must be respected in order that all bones fully develop before surgery. Also as Plastic Surgeons we like a certain degree of patient maturity so we can fully appreciate what our young patients desire and have a mature attitude. So once all that is clarified for girls I like a minimal age of 14 but preferably 16 years old. For boys minimal age of 16 preferably 18. I hope your question was answered. Good luck READ MORE
What are some of the possible side effects to a breast reduction surgery?
Good question. Most breast reductions go well and there is a very high patient satisfaction rate. Like with any surgery there can be bleeding, blood or body fluid collection in a pocket, infection, suture lines may open, numbness of the nipple.and or areola or large breast areas, very rarely parts of the breast tissue may necrose, fatty tissue may necrose creating hard areas within the breast, painful areas. I’ll repeat again complications are rare. Patients that are at increased risk may be diabetic, obese, hypertensive, smokers, have coagulation problems or very large breasts. You should seek the advise of a Plastic Surgeon READ MORE
What are the risks of having a second breast augmentation to fix the first?
I’m sorry you had a bad experience the first time and let’s hope the second time surgery will be to your liking. This is a loaded question and you need to be examined by a competent plastic surgeon. What we look for is: general breast shape; if sagging, how much; is there a need for a breast lift; implant position; is there capsular contracture symmetry of your breasts; thickness of your soft tissue. Once these are determined, a surgical plan can be discussed. This is not an uncommon issue and I think generally the outcome should be to your satisfaction, done by a competent plastic surgeon preferably certified by the ABPS. READ MORE
Can plastic surgery remove scars from previous surgeries?
Hi, Scaring after surgery can be problematic after any surgery, especially if the patient is prone for it. During an office exam, these would be my questions to you: how long ago was your surgery? What, if any, treatment has been done? Have you seen your surgeon? Can you show me other scars on your body? Based on your answers, we would formulate a treatment course. If you are early on after surgery, various products are on the market, usually silicone-based, that help with redness and scar hypertrophy. It can be injected, lasered, or, if the scar is mature (12 months or more), it can be surgically revised. Given that the skin stretched, there is no vertical tension (upward pull) on the new suture line, so chances are it would heal much better. Please remember that you should see your surgeon first. Good luck. READ MORE
Can plastic surgery remove a birthmark?
Yes, your birthmark can be removed by various modalities. Depending on what this lesion is, how large, and its position. Most birthmarks, if removed, should be completely excised. If there is a malignancy potential, then the defect should be closed so that visible scar is minimal. See a plastic surgeon for best results. READ MORE

Will my diabetes hinder my lip surgery?
You should fine tune your blood sugar level before and after surgery, so make sure that you see your Internist or possibly your Endocrinologist. Make sure your Plastic Surgeon is aware of your diabetic problem, good oral hygiene, and take your antibiotic as prescribed. With diabetes, healing is slower, but all should go well. Good luck!
