Teri E. Haskins attended the University of Arkansas where she graduated in 1974 with a Bachelors of Arts majoring in Social Work. Wanting to further her education, she returned to her alma mater and graduated with a Masters in Social Work. Haskins is certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Qualified Clinical Social Worker. She is also certified through the Academy of Certified Social Works and remains a professional member of the National Association of Social Workers. Haskins has over 40 years of experience in her field and is currently serving patients at her private practice, which opened its doors in 1988 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Within her practice, she specializes in eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, addictions, sexual trauma, relationship issues, and psychotherapy. As a psychotherapist, Haskins uses psychological methods based on regular personal interaction to help an individual change their behavior and overcome problems in desired ways. Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual’s well-being and mental health by resolving or mitigating troublesome behaviors, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions. There are over a thousand different psychotherapy techniques - some being minor variations, while others are based on very different conceptions of psychology, such as ethics. Most of them involve one-to-one sessions, between patient and therapist, but some are conducted with groups, including families. Haskins does local and regional lecturing and public speaking through both addiction and eating disorder workshops. She attributes her success to her passion for her work and her patients, as well as her determination. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in dog therapy, using essential oils, and focusing on her overall well-being.
