Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Allen D. Rosen, who serves patients in Montclair, New Jersey.

One of America’s Top Docs, Allen Rosen, was named one of the finest plastic surgeons in New York and New Jersey, by both New York Magazine and New Jersey Monthly Magazine. He is the Founding Partner and Medical Director of The Plastic Surgery Group in Montclair, New Jersey.

A pioneer of drainless abdominoplasty, his areas of special expertise include facial aesthetics, body contouring, as well as cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. He works alongside Dr. Valerie Ablaza, with a 30+ year track record of providing patients with an environment of safety that goes above and beyond the requirements. 

In the early days of his academic career, Dr. Rosen obtained his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 1983. He then went on to serve his residency in plastic/general and hand surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

After finishing his surgical training at New York, he relocated to New Jersey where he serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is also the Medical Director of the North Fullerton Surgery Center.

For over two decades, Dr. Rosen has been a distinguished spokesperson for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has also achieved fellowship status with the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and membership status with the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Medical Association, and the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons. 

Thriving in his field, he is board-certified in plastic surgery and hand surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

For twelve years running, peer surveys by Castle Connolly Medical have recognized Dr. Rosen as one of the country’s premier plastic surgeons. Good Morning America, MTV, Eyewitness News, CBS and NBC, have profiled his work, and he has been an invited guest on News 12 New Jersey and numerous other network media events. He has been quoted in Allure, Shape, and Self magazines, New York Daily News, Wall Street Journal. and the Washington Times.

Recently, Dr. Rosen was also featured in the book, “The Leading Physicians of the World – Doctors of Excellence.” The leading physicians of the world not only serves as a reference and a guide for medical professionals and consumers but is also a symbol of status and achievement in one’s specific specialty and medical profession.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.

A firm believer in balancing the demands of a busy professional life with that of volunteer service, Dr. Rosen was honored in the spring of 2005 for 10 years of dedicated service to Heal the Children, a charitable organization which helps children from around the world who need reconstructive surgery. The American Cancer Society of New Jersey, for which he served as Unit President, honored him for his efforts to help women in the fight against breast cancer. 

Both the American Red Cross and the National Congressional Committees’ Business Advisory Council have singled Dr. Rosen out to honor his outstanding contributions to community service. He has also been involved in fund-raising activities to support Juvenile Diabetes Research. 

Respected among his peers, he has been honored with a number of awards and recognitions, including Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), and Compassionate Doctor Award – 5 Year Honoree (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018).
