  • How can I get over a fear of going to a psychologist?

Going to therapy can be intimidating! But if you meet with the right provider, he/she should put you at ease. It may be helpful to schedule a phone consultation to get a sense of if the therapist is the “right fit” for you. READ MORE

  • Do therapists lead therapy sessions or do I?

This is a great question. Different therapists utilize different therapeutic styles. You should request to speak to a therapist before setting an initial consultation and ask him/her if they are more passive and directive. Also learning what modalities they use (CBT, ACT, Psychodynamic, etc) could also give you an idea of if he/she will be the right fit. READ MORE

  • How can one identify the signs of depression?

I would do a google search for symptoms of depression, but if you’re experiencing symptoms around your cycle it could be a symptom of Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disordsr (PMDD). Ask your PCP or GYN for more info. Seeing a therapist can also be helpful to learn coping strategies to deal with negative feelings. READ MORE
