Specializing in Occupational Medicine.Did training in Clinical Occupational Medicine at Monash University and completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Medicine at Otago University. Im practicing as Occupational Physician at The Occupational Medicine Unit of the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations , Suva, Fiji. I am the only Occupational Physician in Fijiand my work invoves the followinh activities:

a) Permanent Impairment Assessment b) MedicalOpinion on death cases c) Return To Work assessments d) Fitness to Drive e) Fitness to Fly f) Preplacement Assessments

g) Conduct training to Medical Officers on Permanent Impairment Assessment h) Conduct training on Occupational Medicine to MBBS 4&5 at FNU i) Conduct presentation to Regional doctors on Occupational Medicine in the Pacific setting j) Conduct Occupational Assessment to Seasonal Workers Program Clients (SWP) for Australia and Work ready pool for New Zealand k) Workplace Risk assessments

I am also involved in the establishment of Occupational Medicine Unit in Fiji.

Previously I worked at the Fiji Military Hospital and have been doing Military and Emergency Medicine for over 23 years before joining the Occupational Medicine Unit. At one time I was the Chief Medical Officer for the United Nations in Iraq. I was also involved in Post Traumatic Stress after the Fijian Tac HQ was bombarded in South Lebanon and presented a paper in the 2nd World Conference on Post Traumatic Stress for Professional Society in Jeruzalem 1996.

  • Hard work and and being positive in everything I do. I came from a poor background and I always strive to live a better life.

Teaching and speaking

  • I teach Medical students and conduct presentatons to Regional doctors. I'm also heavily involved in teaching local assessors on permanent impairment assessment and also facilitate Dr Dowda Permanent Assessment Training since 2010. I give talks now and then to private sectors on permanent impairment assessments.
