Can I do anything to stop my child from wetting the bed?
New onset bed wetting brings to mind a possible urinary infection, or nocturnal seizures that are picked up only on EEG during sleep. Please see your pediatrician for this evaluation. Can autism be developed?
Perhaps 1/2 of all parents report normal development in the first year and up to 2 years prior to the loss of skills in language and social communication. This frightening experience is truly dramatic for some and for others it seems more gradual. Regardless, it appears that autism has followed a neurological insult due to inflammation. My son watches the same movie over and over
He should be evaluated by your pediatrician for obsessive behaviors and for a social communication disorder, such as autism. He needs opportunities for structured play outside and more "green time" to help break this pattern of behavior. READ MORE
Newborn constipation, what can I do?
It is reassuring that she has been eliminating stool frequently and normally for 2 weeks; the plumbing is all intact. Now with this reduced pattern, it may still be normal, yet you are concerned about a sudden change. First, I would make sure that you are well hydrated and then I would take her rectal temperature to stimulate the anal sphincters to relax, then apply massage with oils to the abdomen in an upside down U pattern to assist with colon and stool movement. Bicycle her legs back and forth. You can also put a teaspoon of flax seed oil into the bottle of formula once daily to soften the stool. A sprinkle of probiotic of lactobacilli into bottle once daily may also help normalize elimination. READ MORE
