My daughter's braces are too tight. Is there anything I can do?
It's not uncommon to have the feeling of tightness for a week or more following the commencement of braces. It may take some time to get used to daily routines. However, if the discomfort is due to a wire impinging or bracket rubbing and causing an ulcer, best to contact your orthodontist/dentist. READ MORE
How can I help my child's fear of the dentist?
Few kids have the fear of visiting a dentist, even though they have never been to one. It would be best to research on a nearby paediatric dental practice or child friendly practice. Some practices have a video on what to expect on a first dental visit and a tour of their practice and this may help to desensitise, acclimatise and reduce the fear of unknown. READ MORE
Why is my daughter still not teething?
Usually the first baby tooth erupts around 6 months of age, which is the lower front tooth. The eruption of baby tooth/teeth can be earlier or delayed due to few factors, which can be hereditary or local or systemic. However, I have seen several kids having their first tooth after 2 years of age. It would be best to see a pediatric dentist for thorough assessment, identify any risk factors and to receive reassurance or anticipatory guidance. Thanks, Dr. Naveen Loganathan READ MORE
