Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.
Attributing his success to having supportive parents and mentors, Dr. Harris has been involved in several global health projects in sub-Saharan Africa since 2003, and was a visiting professor of dermatology in more than a dozen countries, lecturing on dermatologic emergencies and tropical dermatology.
He trained a number of dermatology residents in the United States, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Kenya. He is also a recipient of several humanitarian awards, and has partnered with the Clinton Global Initiative since 2005 — providing care for HIV/AIDS patients in Nakuru, Kenya.
When Dr. Harris is not with patients, he enjoys ocean activities including surfing and paddleboarding, running, biking, and spending time with his daughter, Sophie. His favorite professional publications are the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
