A native of Prince George’s County, Dr. Smith graduated with honors in 2005 from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Sherman Chiropractic College. Furthering her education, she obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP). With this, she joined an elite group of practitioners who are recognized internationally for their advanced skills in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries as well as diagnostic skills and patient care.
Staying up to date in the latest techniques to achieve faster recovery, Dr. Smith is proficient in chiropractic adjustments, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, Graston technique, and dry needling. She is also certified in Active Release Therapy (ART).
Currently, she is working towards completing her Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP). It is the highest level of sports training a chiropractor can receive in the field in which there are less than 400 in the country.
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, vertigo and a long list of other ailments and conditions.
