Originally from Colombia, South America, Dr. Castaño immigrated to the United States with his mother and father in 1995. He began his secondary education at the University of Miami under the Trustee’s Merit Scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2010. He then entered the prestigious College of Dental Medicine at Columbia University in New York City on the Dr. Marlene Klyvert Merit Scholarship, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2014. After completing his doctorate, he was accepted into residency at New York University College of Dentistry and earned his specialty certificate in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in 2017.
Board-certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery through the American Board of Periodontology, he is a member of the New Jersey Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Tri-County Dental Society. He attributes his success to his attention to detail and the support of his father, a medical doctor himself.
Having engaged in clinical research, Dr. Castaño has published works in major scientific dental journals regarding novel treatment of oral melanoma, periodontal plastic surgery in areas of prominent roots, posterior immediate dental implants, and simultaneous hard and soft-tissue augmentation in the esthetic zone. Recently, he has lectured on and is awaiting publication of his works on the implementation of additive manufacturing (3D printing) in dental bone grafting procedures.
