Get to know General Dentist Dr. Robert F. Hawke, who serves patients in Tucson, Arizona.

Dr. Hawke is a highly-regarded South Arizona dentist who has given families bright, healthy smiles for over 30 years. He built his winning reputation by consistently providing every patient with the most compassionate, professional dental care at his private practice in Tucson, Arizona. Whether it is a comprehensive dental checkup and cleaning, advanced bridgework, high-quality cosmetic dentistry, innovative tooth replacement options or state-of-the-art laser gum disease treatment, he and his staff use only the latest and most advanced technologies and tools available to get the job done. 

On the subject of his educational background, Dr. Hawke earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1969. Years later, in 1973, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as a Major in the United States Army Dental Corps in Kitzingen, Germany (1973-1976), an Associate Dentist at B.J. Barber DMD (1976-1978), and a Partner Dentist at Barber-Hawke Dental Corporation (1978-1986).

Among his many accomplishments, this dentist is board-certified by the American Board of General Dentistry, which is dedicated to advancing the practice of general dentistry by promoting a higher standard of knowledge and excellence through advanced education. 

In addition to serving on the Dental Assisting Advisory Committee of Pima Community College, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, the Southern Arizona Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Western Society of Periodontology, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the Tucson Advanced, Cosmetic & Restorative Study Club. In the past, he held multiple positions with the Southern Arizona Dental Society, the Arizona Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. 

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. General dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

For his clinical excellence, Dr. Hawke has earned numerous honors and recognitions, including Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals, Marquis Who’s Who, and the Service Award by the Arizona Dental Association – among others. He attributes his success to his love of dentistry, his great and supportive staff, as well as his ability to keep up with the latest advancements in technology.

Happily married with one daughter, he enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, reading, playing golf, and watching the University of Arizona sports when he is not practicing dentistry.
