On the subject of his educational background, Dr. Hawke earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1969. Years later, in 1973, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as a Major in the United States Army Dental Corps in Kitzingen, Germany (1973-1976), an Associate Dentist at B.J. Barber DMD (1976-1978), and a Partner Dentist at Barber-Hawke Dental Corporation (1978-1986).

Among his many accomplishments, this dentist is board-certified by the American Board of General Dentistry, which is dedicated to advancing the practice of general dentistry by promoting a higher standard of knowledge and excellence through advanced education. 

In addition to serving on the Dental Assisting Advisory Committee of Pima Community College, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, the Southern Arizona Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Western Society of Periodontology, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the Tucson Advanced, Cosmetic & Restorative Study Club. In the past, he held multiple positions with the Southern Arizona Dental Society, the Arizona Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
