Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Jorge Rivera-Jimenez, who serves patients in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Rivera-Jimenez is a highly accomplished and enthusiastic pediatrician currently serving patients at Excel Pediatrics in Jacksonville, Florida. Named Top Pediatrician in Jacksonville by the International Association of Pediatricians in 2016, he is energetic and goal-oriented with a genuine passion for the pediatric population. 

The doctor holds over 14 years of experience with extensive expertise in the emergency department, neonatal intensive care unit, and private office settings. He is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), which is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. 

Founded in 1933, the ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. Certification by the ABP has one objective, to promote excellence in medical care for children and adolescents.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Rivera-Jimenez earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan in 2002. Upon graduation, he went on to complete his residency in pediatrics within the University Pediatric Hospital of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.

To stay current in his field, he remains a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Florida Medical Association.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. As a pediatrician, Dr. Rivera-Jimenez provides medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. He is trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature. 

Dr. Rivera-Jimenez attributes his success to his family, his wife and daughters, for they give him the strength to keep going forward. His hobbies include photography, travel, and technology. As an interesting fact, he knows the biography of almost every superhero in the DC and Marvel Universes.
