Get to know Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon Dr. Juan Carlos Correa, who serves patients in Overland Park, Kansas.

Dr. Correa is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vascular & endovascular surgeon with a broad background in medical academia and clinical practice. He is skilled in interventional procedures and treatment of aneurysms, carotid artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, and varicose veins. 

Bringing a unique perspective to HCA Midwest Health, he practices at Kansas City Vascular & General Surgery Group, LLC in Overland Park, Kansas. There, he focuses on outstanding outcomes through innovation, quality, performance, and best practices with a philosophy of compassionate, personalized care. He performs a wide-range of vascular surgical procedures and has a specific interest in treating Marfan syndrome.

Covering call at most of the area HCA Midwest Health hospitals throughout the Kansas City metro area, he also sees patients at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Research Medical Center, Lee’s Summit Medical Center, and Belton Regional Medical Center.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador in 2003. Upon relocating to the United States, he furthered his training with a residency in general surgery (serving as chief resident) and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Saint Louis University.

With a commitment to his speciality, Dr. Correa is board-certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

A Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), he is a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.

A leader in his field, Dr. Correa is internationally published in myriad journals on a variety of vascular surgery topics. He has received numerous awards, including Best Surgery Resident at Saint Louis University and was nominated for the Most Caring Physician Award at Saint Louis University Hospital.

On a more personal note, he is a former professional tennis player who was once Ecuador’s top-ranked 18-and-under player and even invited to play for the Davis Cup team of Ecuador.
