Dr. Watson III is a highly-trained and qualified venerated interventional cardiologist and heart failure specialist. He is currently the Chief of Cardiology and Co-Director of the Comprehensive Heart Failure Program at Abington – Jefferson Health in Abington, Pennsylvania. Abington Hospital- Jefferson Health is a Regional Referral Center within the growing Jefferson Health system which currently is comprised of 14 hospitals in Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Dr. Watson III is actively involved in Clinical Research involving Heart Failure and coronary artery disease.
Dr. Watson III is involved in many committees at Abington Memorial Hospital, including the Utilization Review Committee, the Fund Development Committee, and the Performance Assessment Committee.
Dr. Watson III completed his undergraduate degree (1978) and his medical degree (1982) at the University of Louisville. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at St. Louis University Hospital in 1985, followed by his fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 1987.
Dr. Watson III holds membership at the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, Political Action by Physicians (AMA), and the Heart Failure Society of America.
Dr. Watson III is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Dr. Watson III has received numerous awards and recognitions in his distinguished career.
