Milan K. Sen, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon working with Gotham City Orthopaedics, LLC and as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Jacobi Medical Center in New York. His primary interests include pelvic and acetabular fractures, scapular fractures, periarticular fractures and nonunions, fracture-dislocations of the wrist and elbow, and nerve and soft tissue injury. Dr. Sen has extensive knowledge and experience in orthopedic trauma and upper extremity injuries and is a well-respected leader in his field. He graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Immunology in 1994. In 1998, he received his medical degree from McGill University's Faculty of Medicine. While earning his medical degree, Dr. Sen spent one month in Lhasa, Tibet, volunteering with Doctors without Borders. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at McGill University Health Center in 2003 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Following his residency training, Dr. Sen completed a Fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the renowned Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. He then spent one month in Vietnam volunteering with Orthopaedics Overseas. His duties involved giving lectures and participating in surgery at four hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and Hue. An additional year was then spent completing a Fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery with Dr. David L. Helfet at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. In 2005, Dr. Sen was awarded the John Border Memorial European Trauma Fellowship by AO North America. He spent one month in Zurich, Switzerland under the supervision of Prof. Otmar Trentz at UniversitatsSpital Zurich, and with Dr. Ladislav Nagy and Prof. Christian Gerber at Uniklinik Balgrist. Dr. Sen is also an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and the Foundation for Orthopedic Trauma.
