Get to know Pain Management Specialist Dr. Thomas P. Ragukonis, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

Attributing his success to hard work, Dr. Ragukonis is a top pain management specialist serving as the Medical Director of Bergen Pain Management. It is a premiere minimally invasive pain management practice with four convenient locations in New Jersey. 

Known for achieving dramatic improvement in pain without major surgery, Dr. Ragukonis’ patients acknowledge him to be a compassionate, caring physician with an excellent bedside manner. He is dedicated to decreasing pain in the most comprehensive and minimally-invasive fashion.

With an emphasis on minimally invasive spinal techniques, he is board-certified in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine, and in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Growing up in New Jersey, Dr. Ragukonis earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he graduated with his medical degree in 1991. After completing his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, he immediately began his private practice in Bergen County, New Jersey. 

Affiliated with numerous professional organizations, he is a member of the American Academy of Pain Management, the Royal Society of Medicine, the North American Spine Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Pain Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, the International Association for the Study of Pain, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the Bergen County Medical Society, and the Alumni Association of the New Jersey Medical School. Alongside his clinical role, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. 

Delivering quality care with dignity and respect, Dr. Ragukonis continues to keep abreast of the latest cutting-edge spinal interventions, including endoscopic discectomy, minimally invasive spinal fusion, and spinal implantable devices which include: SCS and DRG stimulators, as well as intrathecal pumps. He also collaborates with neurosurgeons and board-certified orthopedic spine surgeons in many instances. 

While his education and certification attest to his knowledge, his patients’ results are the justification for his recognition in these areas.
