He received his medical degree from Tulane University and underwent his general surgery internship at Tulane-affiliated hospitals before completing his neurosurgery residency at St. Louis University Health Sciences Center in St. Louis, Missouri. While there, Dr. Mitchell served as both an instructor and clinical professor in neurosurgery. Dr. Mitchell joined The NeuroMedical Center in 1996 and is board certified in neurological surgery. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Fellow American Association of Neurological Surgery (FAANS) and the North American Spine Society (NASS). Dr. Mitchell currently serves as Department Chief for The NeuroMedical Center Clinicâ??s Neurosurgery Department.

    My legs are feeling better. I know my back will never be the same and by Gods grace I will get through my days but the Decompression helped my nerve pain that was running down my legs.... My hip still feels like an ice pic is stuck in my right lower back/hip area.....so if that should go away it hasn't yet.. Thank you Dr. Mitchell I pray I don't ever need surgery again on my back but if I ever do I'll be here to see you!! Tawana Venable

    I am extremely pleased with the treatment and the results of my treatment. I was more than just a patient to Dr Mitchell. He had my well being at heart. I felt that he could not have treated better if I hand been his mother. I have great respect his expertise and his competency.

    Very pleased; took time to throughly explain my problem and what can be done to fix it. Did not have to wait long, either which was a nice experience . Overall, very pleased with Dr. Mitchell.
