Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Anthony Aghenta, who serves the population of Phoenix, Arizona. He is a highly trained and qualified Hospitalist with extensive expertise in all facets of his work, especially internal medicine. Dr. Anthony Aghenta has been in practice for more than 17 years and is currently serving patients as Medical Director within Coronado Healthcare Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He is also affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Anthony Aghenta gained his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1999 from the University of Benin College of Medicine in Benin City, Nigeria. After moving to the United States, he attended the University of Minnesota and Unity Health System. Dr. Aghenta is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Physicians. To keep up to date with the latest advances and developments in his field, he maintains a professional membership with the Society of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Aghenta attributes his success to his faith in God, as well as the support of his family. When he is not assisting patients, Dr. Aghenta enjoys golfing, watching soccer, and traveling with his family. Hospital medicine is a type of practice within internal medicine in which the clinical focus is caring for hospitalized patients. Internists practicing hospital medicine are frequently called “hospitalists.” Although not all hospitalists are required to be internists, the nature of internal medicine training uniquely prepares internists for hospital medicine practice. As a result, the vast majority of hospitalists are trained in internal medicine, usually general internal medicine.
