Dr. Tejal A. Jakatdar PH.D.
Psychologist
1616 Walnut St Suite 714 Philadelphia PA, 19103About
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders (obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder), mood disorders (depression, postpartum depression), body-focused repetitive behaviors (hair pulling, skin picking), perfectionism, procrastination, and issues related to infertility. My clinical philosophy is to approach you as a whole person and not just your target symptoms. I use an integrative combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and some techniques/principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy including mindfulness strategies. I work on tailoring evidence-based approaches for your needs and your level of readiness. I believe in treating you with warmth, empathy, patience, and kindness. Together, we will collaboratively work on changing unhelpful/ineffective thinking patterns and behaviors, and learn new skills and tools so you can live a richer and more fulfilling life.
Â
I am originally from India. I have studied acculturation in anxiety disorders and body image concerns in Indian and Caucasian populations. I am sensitive to cultural issues when devising treatment interventions with clients of different ethnicities.
Â
I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia. I completed my internship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. I have been in private practice for 6 years. I served as adjunct faculty for the clinical psychology program at Temple University and have supervised several practicum and post doctoral students. My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and I have written a book chapter on treating social anxiety disorder. I have presented at numerous national and international conferences and given talks for professional and lay audiences.
