Dr. Anna Falabella is internationally known and respected for her passion and expertise in general dermatology, pediatric dermatology and the specialized area of wound healing. Her work has been featured in national and international periodicals, including People Magazine, and she has appeared on Dateline NBC, Discovery Channel Health, Discovery Channel Germany, Univision, and Channel 10 Health News in Miami. In 1989 she earned her Doctorate of Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad del Valle Sección de Medicina in Cali, graduating as salutatorian. After completing an internship and dermatology fellowship at the Hospital Universitario del Valle, she moved to New Orleans, LA where she completed a three-year International Fellowship in Dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine. In 1994 she joined the University of Miami School of Medicine / Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL where she completed an internship in Internal Medicine, residency in Dermatology, and fellowship in Wound Healing in four years. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Academy of Wound Management. In 1998 Dr. Falabella joined the faculty of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Within a matter of months she achieved international recognition for her work in wound healing, becoming the first physician in the world to transplant bioengineered skin on to the wounds of an infant born with epidermolysis bullosa. This novel therapy changed the paradigm for treating this incurable disease. Dr. Falabella’s accomplishments in clinical care and research are widely respected. She has served as a principle investigator or co-investigator in more than 40 research trials and has authored or co-authored more than 60 articles, book chapters and abstracts. She is co-editor of Wound Healing, the first textbook ever published that focuses on this critical area within Dermatology.

Dr.Falabella and her staff is exceptional when it comes to providing quality care. Everybody is always very personable and professional. They are very respectful of your needs and always listens to every concern. in addition, Dr. Falabella found things on my body that I was unaware of and was very serious. i highly recommend Dr Falabella for everybody, men, woman and children. An exceptional dermatologist, Dr. Falabella is the Co-Owner of Hollywood Dermatology & Cosmetic Specialists, with offices throughout South Florida. She has made significant contributions to the field of dermatology, especially in the areas of wound healing and pediatric dermatology. Her passion and expertise in these areas have earned her international recognition, and she has been invited to give lectures at national meetings and world dermatologic congresses.
Originally from Iowa City, she was raised in Cali, Colombia, graduating as salutatorian from the Universidad del Valle School of Medicine. She completed her internship and dermatology fellowship at the Hospital Universitario del Valle, before relocating to New Orleans, where she completed a three-year international fellowship in dermatology at Tulane University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her internship, residency in dermatology, and fellowship in wound healing at the Miami University Miller School of Medicine.
An expert in her field, the doctor is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Falabella is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), and Fellow of the American Academy of Wound Management (FAAWM).
One of her most significant accomplishments is the development of a novel therapy for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa, an incurable disease that causes the skin to blister and tear. In 1998, she became the first physician in the world to transplant bioengineered skin onto the wounds of an infant born with this condition, which changed the paradigm for treating this disease.
Her work in wound healing has continued to be groundbreaking, and she has served as Director of the Dermatology Wound Healing Clinic and Director of the Wound Healing Fellowship Program at the University of Miami School of Medicine between 1998 and 2004.
Despite her impressive accomplishments and accolades, Dr. Falabella remains committed to providing excellent care to her patients. She maintains an appointment as a Voluntary Associate Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and can be found on staff at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
In addition to her clinical work, she is also a prolific researcher, with over 60 articles, book chapters, and abstracts to her name. She has been a principal investigator or co-investigator in more than 40 research trials, contributing significantly to the field of dermatology.
Dr. Falabella’s dedication to community health and prevention is evident in her volunteer work at local health fairs and participation in medical mission trips. She also secured a grant to build a sunshade structure for Indian Trace Elementary School in Weston, Florida, promoting sun safety and skin cancer prevention.
