Get to know Endodontist Dr. Adam Scot Harwood, who serves patients in Greenwich Village, New York City, New York.
Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Harwood knew that he wanted to become a dentist ever since he was a child. Decades later, he is considered one of the best endodontists in Lower Manhattan and Greenwich Village in New York City, New York. He was the first endodontist in New York to use a surgical operating microscope, for which he received extensive training at the Pacific Endodontic Research Foundation.
Dr. Harwood is currently serving patients at his own private practice – Adam Harwood Endodontics D.M.D., P.C. – located in Greenwich Village. There, he offers his patients the latest in endodontic innovations, including services such as endodontic re-treatment, apicoectomy, and more. Dr. Harwood is passionate about learning and remains committed to bringing the latest technology to his practice.
Dr. Harwood received his undergraduate degree from Hobart College. Thereafter, he went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, followed by post-graduate certification in endodontics at the same University.
Dr. Harwood has taught endodontics at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, the New York University School of Dentistry, and at the Metropolitan Hospital Center.
Dr. Harwood holds professional memberships with the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Association of Endodontists (AAE). The AAE is a global resource for knowledge, research, and education for the profession, members, and the public. The mission of the association is to advance the art and science of endodontics and to promote the highest standards of patient care.
Dr. Harwood has received several awards throughout his line of work, including 2018 Top Dentist by NY Top Dentists and 2008-2016 America’s Top Dentist by Consumers’ Research Council of America.
Dr. Harwood is an Eagle Scout. He volunteers as the Scoutmaster of Troop 267 and the Boy Scouts’ National Honor Society, where he instills in his scouts the ethical and leadership lessons he has learned over the years.
On the personal front, Dr. Harwood and his wife, Linda, are very involved in the lives of their three teenage children and large extended family. In his spare time, Dr. Harwood enjoys boating. He also happens to be a great cook and a fabulous dancer.
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry concerning dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of a tooth. “Endo” is the Greek word for “inside” and “odont” is the Greek word for “tooth.” As an endodontist, Dr. Harwood specializes in treating the soft pulp tissue found inside the teeth. Simply put, he provides root canal treatment.
