The practice is specifically a pediatric headache clinic, so any type of headache can be seen including primary and secondary headache disorders.  A full history and thorough examination will initially be done during consultation and diagnoses will be assigned.  The primary goal is to have the patient take ownership of their headaches and be able to treat them as they arise, using education about their disorder, simple techniques for relaxation, lifestyle changes, as well as medication intervention.  Providing a preventative and rescue medication will be decided on, and any naturopathic remedies will be also discussed.  If warranted the correct neuro-imaging studies, sleep studies, lab work will be ordered.  The patient should have an enjoyable visit learning about their disabling disorder and leave the clinic empowered with all the rules and tools to minimize disability.  The clinic see many migraine, tension, and post traumatic headaches in the episodic and chronic states, and has been very effective in reducing disability.  Evidence based medicine is utilized always and this is conveyed to patients and their families when attending the clinic.  Chronic migraine treatment is an area of expertise and is chronic tension and new daily persistent headache.  Chronic and Acute post traumatic headache sydnrome is also an area of expertise.
