Neuropathology is the study of disease of nervous system tissue, usually in the form of either small surgical biopsies or whole-body autopsies. Neuropathologists spend most of their time making diagnoses of tumours, inflammatory disorders, and infections. Like their colleagues in other areas of cellular pathology, they are responsible for post-mortem analysis, looking at neural (brain) tissues to study dementia, investigate genetic conditions, and assess trauma.
