After earning her medical degree at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in India, she immigrated to the United States and completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at the Westchester Medical Center / New York Medical Center.

Subsequently, Dr. Prakash worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City before moving to Florida with her family.
