Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Patrick J. Horst, who serves patients in Vinton, Iowa.

Well-versed in the field of physical therapy, Dr. Horst sees patients at his private practice, Horst Physical Therapy, in Vinton, Iowa. He has treated a variety of diagnoses from a diverse population. His goal is to provide his patients with the tools they need to be successful, not only during treatment but during their daily activities.

Horst Physical Therapy seeks to improve the quality of life of their diverse patient demographic. By enhancing patient strength, mobility, and function, they aim to return their patients’ bodies to a state of well-being. They evaluate their injuries, learn about their goals, and consult with other specialists to develop a personalized plan of care. In addition, they provide patient education to help prevent future injury and ways to care for the body.

A Vinton native, Dr. Horst completed his undergraduate education at the University of Northern Iowa and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Clarke University in 2017.

An active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, he holds a certificate in dry needling, and is a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist.

Physical therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is one of the allied health professions that, by using evidence-based kinesiology, electrotherapy, shockwave modality, exercise prescription, joint mobilization and health education, treats conditions such as chronic or acute pain, soft tissue injuries, cartilage damage, arthritis, gait disorders, and physical impairments typically of musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, neurological, and endocrinological origins. Physical therapy is used to improve a patient’s physical functions through physical examination, diagnosis, prognosis, physical intervention, rehabilitation, and patient education. It is practiced by physical therapists (known as physiotherapists in many countries).
