Get to know Psychiatrist & Addiction Medicine specialist Dr. Mark L. Taylor, who serves patients in Monroe, Louisiana.

Dr. Taylor is a well-versed psychiatrist seeing patients in Monroe, Louisiana. He sub-specializes in addiction medicine and is also a Certified Medical Review Officer (MRO).

Dr. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. He graduated with his medical degree from the American University of Integrative Sciences, Sínt Maarten School of Medicine, (formerly University of Sínt Eustatius School of Medicine.  He completed his internship in Family Medicine at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine – Shreveport.

Subsequently, Dr. Taylor completed a fellowship in addiction medicine via the ABPM-Practice Pathway, and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology at Northcentral University.

Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) and by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Taylor is a proud member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Medical Association, the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American Association of Emergency Psychiatry, the American Association of Community Psychiatry, and the American Association of Medical Review Officers.

Among his other roles, he has medical privileges with Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, and St. Francis Medical Center.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

With over a decade of experience in his field, Dr. Taylor has been the recipient of various awards and honors, including the Eagle Award by the Overton-Brooks VA Medical Center (2021), Top Doctor Award by findatopdoc.com (2021), and America’s Most Honored Doctors – Top 10% by the American Registry (2021, 2020). In addition, he is the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award and Most Compassionate Doctor Award by the American Registry .
