Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Arthelma Chenee Tyson, who serves patients in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

Dr. Tyson is an accomplished vascular surgeon serving the community of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. She is an attending physician at AtlantiCare Physician Group. Patients see her for a host of reasons, including foot ulcers, varicose veins, carotid surgeries, and leg pain while walking/peripheral vascular diseases.

With over a decade of experience in her field, Dr. Tyson shares a great rapport with her patients and is known for her medical knowledge and dedication amongst patients and her team. She takes a genuine interest in researching and educating herself on various new advancements in vascular surgery so that her patients get the best and the most advanced treatment possible.

A member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the doctor is board-certified in both general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

As for her academic career, Dr. Tyson earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2010. She then went on to serve her internship and residency in general surgery at Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Clinic in 2011 and 2013, respectively. 

Wanting to further her training, she completed her residency in general surgery at Berkshire Medical Center in 2014, her residency in vascular surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2015, and her fellowship in vascular surgery at Staten Island University Hospital in 2017.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.
