Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Joshua D. Pratt, who serves the population of Western North Carolina. Dr. Pratt completed his undergraduate degree from Harding University. Furthering his education he graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the University of North Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011, giving him nearly a decade of experience in his field. After obtaining his degree, he completed his General Surgery residency with the Franciscan St. James Hospitals in Chicago where he was named chief resident. Dr. Pratt is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and is a professional member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He currently practices as a general surgeon with Harris Surgical Associates where he holds an expertise in Laparoscopic procedures including Cholecystectomy, Hernia, and Appendectomy, Breast Procedures including biopsy and mastectomy, Colon/Bowel Resection, and Pediatric Surgery consultation. General surgeons not only perform surgeries for a wide range of ailments and diseases, but they are also responsible for patient care before, during, and after surgery. They are trained to operate on the alimentary tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine), abdomen and its contents, breast, skin and soft tissue, and the endocrine system.
