“From a young age I have loved working with children. I love their playfulness, free-spirited nature and enthusiasm for life. I came from a large family and my mother devoted her career to helping children succeed in school. I gravitated toward a career in medicine throughout my educational training, with the goal of ultimately working with children and adolescents. I had several family members in the mental health field and this further influenced my decision to pursue a career in psychiatry. I enjoy working with children and their families and hearing their life stories. My goal is to help children and adolescents live healthier and happier lives” expressed the doctor.
Before embarking on her professional journey, she earned her medical degree from the Thomas Jefferson University Medical College in 2012. She completed her internship and residency in psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2015, and completed a fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the same educational venue in 2017, having been named Chief Fellow.
Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Active in academia, Dr. Castro enjoys helping to train the next generation of child and adolescent psychiatrists through teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She is also interested in the integration of psychiatric care with other specialties and primary care.
