Do you recommend acupuncture for neuropathy?
Absolutely. Just this month, I have had several neuropathy patients referred to me by their primary physician to help with the condition. Most of those patients have already stopped needing to see me for neuropathy as they no longer have pain. READ MORE

Is acupuncture safe during the first trimester?
Acupuncture is generally safe, but I personally refuse to see pregnant patients until they are in their second trimester. Especially if the pregnancy is a first, please play it safe and wait until end of 4th or 5th month. And more importantly, find a fertility specialist acupuncturist. READ MORE
How can acupuncture improve blood circulation?
Acupuncture can break up stagnation or blockage of energy. Depending on why your blood circulation is poor, acupuncture can remove stagnation or even create more blood in the body. Find a practitioner and engage in an initial consultation face-to-face to get a better direction for your specific condition. READ MORE
How is acupuncture an alternative treatment in dentistry?
Acupuncture existed before modern medicine. So as long as you keep that in mind, everything else starts to make sense. If the tooth is rotten or damaged, please go to the dentist. But if you have pain in the jaw or mouth, please come see me or any other qualified practitioner. There are may causes for tooth and mouth pain. Acupuncture has proven to be effective. Depending on your condition, I can direct you better as to how we would apply acupuncture and how it would greatly improve your quality of life. READ MORE
If there are any complications of acupuncture, what are they?
Complications from acupuncture can range anywhere from bleeding and/or bruising to extreme lethargy. The most pressing complication is fainting, and that would be immediate. If the root cause is misdiagnosed, the treatment could possibly reinforce the problem instead of relieving. If the acupuncturist is experienced, the worst complication would be no change in symptoms. I have never had a patient pass out or complain of no change in condition. Make sure you have an initial consultation to get a good feel for the practitioner. Because acupuncture is an intimate health journey, you will feel “right” or “at home” with the practitioner when the fit is just right. Remember, you find the health care partner you are meant to find. READ MORE
Is an achy feeling normal in acupuncture?
Usually, we look out for a few sensations. 1. A deep pressure, like an elephant sitting on the needled area. 2. Buzzing or electricity, like static. 3. Aching/throbbing. 4. Sharp, stabbing pain. The only one that is undesirable is the 4th sensation of sharp stabbing. READ MORE
Can more than one condition be treated in an acupuncture session?
I would absolutely hope so. Acupuncture is a whole body approach. Muscle pain and arthritis may be inter-related depending on the origin of the problem. I like to take as much information as possible to paint the bigger picture. Each concern/issue can change the origin of the root cause. READ MORE
How long does an acupuncture last usually?
Each practitioner has different styles and techniques. I usually spend an hour per session to maximize the treatment and results. But again, the time will vary. READ MORE
Does a daith piercing help with migraines?
Depends on the cause of your migraines. In most cases of migraines, a lack of blood and poor circulation is the main culprit. Daith piercings are to simulate ear acupuncture to relieve the pain, but will not be effective in eradication of migraines permanently. I recommend you meet with an acupuncturist to better diagnose the cause of your migraines before choosing your next step. The more knowledge, the more power! READ MORE
Can acupuncture cure hypertension?

How does acupuncture help boost the immune system?
Take a step back and look at the people around you: some get sick frequently, whereas some rarely get sick. The immune system exists in all of them, but the balance can be in perfect harmony or disharmony. Acupuncture promotes qi (energy) and blood circulation to strengthen the organs that are imbalanced and causing a "hole" in your body's natural defense system, so to speak. READ MORE

When is acupuncture not recommended?

But, anything and everything else, acupuncture is becoming more and more sought after do to the gentle nature: cancer, diabetes, athletes, skin care, pregnant, children, osteoarthritis, etc. all inclusive for great candidates for acupuncture. I have numbness after my acupuncture session. What should I do?
This is not a normal response to acupuncture. The heat could have worsened the condition, or acupuncture could have been administered into a point that was too close to a nerve, etc. Without seeing the problem/issue for myself, I can only give you educated guesses. I would recommend that you set up a consultation with an acupuncturist and immediately have it checked. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to separate the root cause from the symptoms and referred pain. READ MORE
Should I get acupuncture for my fibromyalgia?
Yes absolutely. I have patients who have suffered from mild to severe fibromyalgia. They are now in different stages of treatment, but have all reported a better quality of life with less pain and especially clearer mind. Fibromyalgia in acupuncture is not specific to one cause/issue. Depending on the person and the status of their major organs (there are 5 that Eastern medicine is based), the problems and manifestations are different. Find a practitioner who is the best partner for your health journey and start immediately so that you can naturally live well at the quality of life you were accustomed to enjoying. READ MORE

How often should I get acupuncture?
Depends on the severity of the issue. I have patients who are seeing me for anxiety and they have seen major results in an average of 5-6 consecutive sessions, at once a week. The whole goal is to recondition the mind and body to resolve and treat the major root problem, not to repress symptoms as they arise. READ MORE
