Get to know Family Practitioner Dr. Shashikant A. Daya, who serves patients in Atlanta, Georgia. 

With more than two decades of experience in internal and family medicine, Dr. Daya offers patients individualized care to meet their unique needs. At his private practice, Airport Primary Care, in Atlanta, Georgia, he takes great effort and time to treat each patient he encounters with dignity and respect. Patients suffering from allergies, asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain, obesity, sleep disorders, illnesses, and more can turn to him and his expert family medicine team for premium care. 

After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr. Daya went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery, pediatrics, as well as obstetrics and gynecology at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. He finished his residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed his residency in nuclear medicine at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Ohio. Thereafter, he finished his medical training as a Chief Resident in family practice at Louisiana State University in Shreveport.

The doctor maintains his credentials with continuing education to stay up to date with the latest advancements in internal medicine. He is board-certified in nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. 

Family medicine, formerly family practice, is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. They are expected to treat a wide range of medical conditions, develop long-term, personal relationships with their patients, produce individualized healthcare programs based on patient historical data, and offer continuous support and health management advice.
